yeah… it’s PIZZA TIME, bitches! if that doesn’t excite you, then you’re reading the wrong blog. go check out this one instead.
i recently had a game night with a bunch of friends, and we debated over where we should get food from. of course it was going to pizza, the perfect group dish for any occasion, but in this issue more than any other, the matter of where is of great importance. one of my friends wanted pizza hut. pizza hut. yeah, no thanks. another suggestion was hungry howies. oh god… this was not going well. and then i recommended bosco’s.
bosco’s italian to go is a modest little pizza place, and my home delivery pizza of choice. they have a location in wesley chapel on 54 west of curley, and another location in lutz on 54 west of carpenter’s run. they’re both small little shops, without any real seating; they are a delivery business. and they do delivery right. they have a full menu of pizza, calzones and stromboli, italian dishes and subs. a good amount of stuff to choose from for a simple pizza delivery place.
okay, so the pizza went fast. i can’t attribute this entirely to the quality of the pizza, unfortunately; i feel that a combination of greed and fear caused people to grab as much pizza as they could fit onto their plate as quickly as they could. i know i did. but the pizza is solid. i’m not going to claim that it’s the best pizza ever, because it’s not, but it certainly beats the hell out of the vast majority of pizza chains that deliver in the area (marco’s excluded).
the pizza is floppy and greasy, a new york type. the toppings are all good, not great. the cheese is pretty good, though; pictured above is an extra cheese pizza, which i always wind up getting each time i visit. there’s something wonderful you can find in the simplicity of a pizza with just cheese on it.
we got pepperoni, too. the crust is quite good on them, with a bit of chewiness to it. the sauce is about average. usually i go for a lot of toppings on their pizzas; “the works” is my favorite pizza of theirs, which has pretty much what you’d usually expect on a deluxe, but with the addition of banana peppers, which i love (a great pizza topping).
i also usually get their cheese bread, which is very, very good, and totally stands on its own. they have good salads with a great house italian dressing. also, they serve some hella good (yeah, you heard me: HELLA GOOD) sandwiches: philly cheesesteaks, meatball, chicken or veal parmesan, and a delicious sweet italian sausage with onions and peppers. they’re all really good, and this is the only place i’ve had decent cheesesteaks in the area from (so far).
so if it’s the weekend (which it is) and you’re looking for a decent meal (which you are) and you’re too lazy to stand up (which i am), pick up the phone and give bosco’s a call. i think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
